Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai on Sunday attacked the Congress for doing nothing for the welfare of the SC/ST communities and said the Congress will ‘disappear’ in the ‘tsunami’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) .
“Sonia Gandhi who had won Ballari in the Lok Sabha elections promised a ₹3000 crore package but did not give three paise. She deceived the people of Ballari. Ballari voters will teach Congress a lesson in the upcoming election. The great old party of the country will disappear in the BJP tsunami. The previous Congress government had planned ₹8000 crores and ₹15,000 crores but never really did justice,” he said.
His remarks came as he addressed a massive rally organized by BJP ST Morcha, CM Bommai also said they were following the path set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who united the whole country with his programs such as Sab Ka Saat, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab ka Vishwas and Sab Ka Prayas.
“Through this, Prime Minister Modi has brought justice to every community. The state government has taken a landmark decision to increase bookings for SC/ST communities,” he added.
He called the increase in quotas for Scheduled Castes (SC) from 15% to 17% and for Scheduled Tribes (ST) from 3% to 7% as a constitutional decision that allowed community members to live with them- same. -respect.
The Karnataka CM has attacked former Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi for her promise of a ₹3000 crore package for Bellari and said Congress will ‘disappear’ in BJP ‘tsunami’.
CM Bommai attacked opposition leader Siddaramaiah and alleged that the latter had done nothing to alleviate the poverty of the SC/ST community.
“The Congress party ruled for over 60 years. They only spoke for the welfare of the SC/ST communities but never alleviated their poverty. They only used the community as a vote bank. The Head of State said that many programs have been launched for the social, economic and academic upliftment of SC/ST communities.
“The government has provided grants of ₹28000 crore for SC/ST communities. Several Department of Social Welfare schemes have been awarded ₹6000 crore. A separate directorate has been created for the ST community. Former CM BS Yediyurappa brought justice to the Halumatha community, released grants for the development of Kaginele Kshethra and also announced the celebration of Valmiki Jayanti. 100 Ambedkar hostels and 50 Kanakadasa hostels are also under construction,” he said.
CM Bommai also called Maharishi Valmiki an inspiration and said that the Valmiki community should be involved in nation-building activities.
“The Ramayana was written by Maharshi Valmiki and this work is considered one of the best religious works. The people of the community are very brave and they defeated the Mughals. Some of the brave people of this community are Veera Madakari Nayak, Ekalavya , Bedara Kannappa,” he said.
