HOUSTON– Due to a trip and for the first time since May 2, 2010, the Houston softball team tied their game at Tulsa 2-2 in nine innings on Sunday.
The Cougars (17-16-1, 1-1-1 American) and Hurricane (12-18-1, 1-1-1 American) were tied for 3 1/2 innings before Tulsa took the fronts.
A sacrificial volley from Houston in the seventh inning tied the game at 1-1 before the Cougars took their first lead in the eighth inning on the third baseman’s hot bat. Baylea Myers.
However, Tulsa tied the game in the bottom half of the eighth via a two-out solo home run.
Houston Holder Kenna Wilkey twirled a career-high 154 pitches in 8.0 innings heading into the ninth inning, tying a career-high for innings pitched, but earned a no-decision tie.

Scoreless through the first three innings, Tulsa pushed for the game’s first run late in the fourth inning with a two-out double bloop that eluded the left fielder. by Bethany Busch dive recovery attempt.
The Cougars had chances to tie the game in the fifth and sixth innings, but failed to make it past the tying run in either inning.
A first double down the left field line by the third baseman Baylea Myers marked on a sacrificial fly by a freshman in a red shirt LA Matthews tie at 1-1 in the seventh inning.
The Cougars took the lead in the eighth inning with a single on Myers’ third base sack, his third hit of the day.
Tulsa tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out home run to left center.
Late in the ninth inning, a Tulsa starting brace was blocked at second base as the 3:15 timeout limit, agreed upon at the plate meeting, rang so Houston could stick to its travel plans.
