GOP rep asks Treasury about tornado cash penalties

By Sarah Jarvis (August 23, 2022, 9:06 p.m. EDT) – A US congresswoman in a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday asked for clarification on the “first of its kind” sanctions imposed earlier this month by the Office of Foreign Asset Control against so-called smart contract addresses associated with the Tornado Cash cryptocurrency mixing service, raising privacy and due process concerns.
