There never seems to be a shortage of tastefully modified Porsche models coming to fruition and the newest we can feast on is this Gunter Werks Project Tornado which uses a 993 generation 911 as the basis of its madness.

Less weight and more power are the most notable updates to the model which can now produce some serious power. Powering the bright orange coupe forward is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 and although not the configuration of the original it is air-cooled – paying homage to the 993 generation being the last Porsche 911 to use this technology.

That means, however, that normal driving has an impressive 447kW of power, but a track mode pushes it up to 522kW. To appease purists unhappy with the engine change, Gunther Werks mated the engine to a six-speed manual gearbox.

It also lost weight unnecessarily, with the entire body now cast in carbon fiber. That alone takes 226kg off its overall weight despite the considerable widebody kit that lines the ends of the car and includes rear fender-mounted ram air intakes.

Contrasting the orange finish are five-spoke Fuchs-style gun metal wheels. Gunther Werks used similar minimal updates to the interior with Alcantara covering the dashboard and parts of the bucket seats, while a smartphone or tablet can be mounted to play favorite media in front of a base. inductive charging. Gunther Werks can also order Project Tornado in a touring package which is slightly more usable with more comfortable seats and frunk. Pricing for the model has not been announced, but expect it to be well over R10 million. Take a closer look at the model here.
