The donation completes a $1 million Commitment to the U.S. World Food Program to help eradicate hunger
LOS ANGELES, February 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF)a global nonprofit foundation dedicated to improving the lives of children and families around the world, today announced that it has awarded $333,000 to the World Food Program United States to help with disaster relief following Typhoon Odette in The Philippines. The grant will help the United Nations World Food Programme, the largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger in the world, to distribute food to the Dinagat Islands, with the aim of reaching 5,400 families.
“Disaster can strike any community at any time, leaving many without access to food and clean water, and as a global nutrition foundation committed to ending hunger, we feel responsible for helping to alleviate food insecurity during these critical times,” said Alan HoffmanChairman of the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation.
Over eight million people were affected by Typhoon Odette and in some areas 80% of the total population was severely affected. When the typhoon hit in December, the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation launched a month-long campaign through its disaster relief partner, the Philippine Red Cross, to help victims in dire need of food, clothing, drinking water and blankets.
