Ian turned into a hurricane, aims for Florida

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Tropical Storm Ian is now a Category 1 Hurricane Ian with maximum sustained winds at 75 mph. Rapid intensification is expected and Ian is still expected to become a major hurricane, up to Category Four strength.

A Florida touchdown is still expected later this week, but it should return to a Category 1 around touchdown. There will be no local impact on our weather due to this storm.

We will have another hot day today with highs in the low 90s, but tonight we will feel the aftermath of the front as lows drop to near 60s at daybreak Tuesday.
