A Kentucky bourbon organization has raised over $ 1.5 million to help rebuild Western Kentucky. The Kentucky Bourbon Benefit has raised over $ 1.5 million for tornado relief through donations of bourbon that are auctioned. More than 410 “prizes” have been donated by distillers, private collectors and fans, with more donations coming in, according to a Kentucky Bourbon Benefit press release. Recent donations include a 19-year-old Willett Private Barrel Selection for $ 280,000. The online auction began on December 16 and will run until 10 p.m. on December 21. The live auction will take place on December 21. starting at 7:00 p.m., however the website on which it will take place has not yet been announced. The benefit is sponsored by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, the Bourbon Crusaders charity, and Bourbon curator Fred Minnick. Proceeds will go directly to the state’s official Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund to help those affected by tornadoes and severe storms on December 11.
