Latest Update: Pickaway Tornado was an EF1 and winds over 110 MPH

PICKAWAY – National Weather has confirmed that the tornado that hit the Kingston area was a class EF1.

According to the report, the tornado touched down just north of Kingston at around 1:59 a.m. and remained on the ground for about four minutes. During this time, it had a speed of 110 MPH and a path width of 270 meters. He traveled 2.7 miles.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONFIRMS THAT A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN
IN SOUTHERN PICKAWAY COUNTY, JUST NORTH OF KINGSTON, DURING THE
EARLY MORNING HOURS ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2021.

THE TORNADO FIRST TOUCHED DOWN NEAR A RESIDENCE ALONG WOLFE ROAD.
THE DAMAGE AT THIS RESIDENCE WAS SIGNIFICANT, WITH THE ENTIRE ROOF
LIFTED OFF THIS TWO STORY HOME AND THROWN NEARLY 400 YARDS, 
DAMAGING A TRUCK ON A PROPERTY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF WOLFE ROAD. 
SIDING WAS ALSO REMOVED FROM THIS PROPERTY, AND NUMEROUS HARDWOOD 
TREES WERE SNAPPED OR KNOCKED DOWN. ROOF AND SIDING DAMAGE WAS 
ALSO OBSERVED ON THE PROPERTY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF WOLFE ROAD.
MAXIMUM WINDS ALONG WOLFE ROAD WERE LIKELY UPWARD OF 110 MPH. 

THE TORNADO LIKELY WEAKENED FURTHER EAST AS IT CROSSED BOGGS ROAD,
BUT ROOF FROM A METAL SHED ON BOGGS WAS NOTED IN A NEARBY FIELD.
EAST OF THERE, NO ADDITIONAL TORNADO DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED. 

DAMAGE SURVEYED IN THE TARLTON AREA WAS FOUND TO BE A RESULT OF
STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS, WITH SCATTERED TREE DAMAGE FOUND IN AND NEAR
TARLTON. STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH OCCURRED IN THIS
AREA.
