NHA leads cash relief efforts for Cebu typhoon victims

The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Friday led the distribution of cash assistance to 2,000 families whose homes were damaged by Typhoon “Odette” in December in Cebu.

NHA Director General Joeben Tai led the distribution of cash grants to 1,000 families in Lapu-Lapu City, 559 in Carcar City and 441 in Naga City.

Each beneficiary family received 10,000 pesos under the agency’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), providing rapid response cash assistance to qualified low-income and marginalized families affected by natural disasters or caused by man.

EHAP is one of Tai’s priorities. Since August 1, the NHA has been able to distribute 2.419 billion pesos in EHAP funds.

Tai gave assurances that the financial aid would reach the victims of the calamity, saying “we want to let our compatriots that we will do on our promise to help them.” We will not forget you.

Meanwhile, the head of the NHA conducted project inspections with the NHA itself, consultative dialogues with beneficiaries, and coordination with local government units for future housing development projects.
