Not even a hurricane could stop the marital happiness of Stephanie and Dave

The rain didn’t dampen the morale of this Cork couple when they got engaged and four years later when they exchanged vows.

The Lough’s Stephanie Spitere and David (Dave) Lee first met 11 years ago at a 21st birthday party at Sully’s pub in Dave’s native Donoughmore. “We met at the bar for a drink and we hit it off right away,” Stéphanie said.

Seven years later, Dave took Stéphanie to Paris.

“He had arranged for a photographer to meet us at the Eiffel Tower on the night of November 11, 2017, but when we got there, it was raining at full speed,” said Stéphanie.

Not knowing that Dave had a marriage proposal in mind, Stephanie reported a cab. “He had arranged with the hotel to have our room decorated for our return – so he had to get on his knees and ask the question while I opened the bedroom door,” she said. .

As many couples planning their weddings during a pandemic, they had to rearrange the date several times. “We bought a house from Kerry Pike together in July because we had to postpone our wedding three times – so we decided to buy a house instead while we waited,” Stephanie said.

“Our original date was May 9, 2020 and thank goodness it all happened on October 7, 2021, and it’s been an amazing day! There was a storm called Sam [Hurricane Sam] that day, but the rain made no difference to us, ”said the bride.

The bride’s grandmother, Breda Spitere, turned 91 the week before the big day: Dickie from Singers Secreto, performed, to the band and DJ (Electric Circus and Patrick Ahern)! She is so young at heart and she is such an amazing woman. “

“We were extremely lucky to pick up some live music before our date, which just made our day. Our church singer was Julie O’Sullivan whose singing was the highlight of the occasion.

Dave’s grandmother, Birdie, also sent him best wishes, who was unable to attend the reunion due to illness that week.

The parents of the bride, Patricia and Noel Spitere, and the mother and father of the groom, Philomena and Eddie Lee, toasted their future happiness.

Stephanie’s friend, Lucy Keohane, was her bridesmaid; and her friends, Mairead Barry and Ciara O’Rahilly were her bridesmaids. Dave’s friend Gary Fagan was his best man; and his brother, Darren Lee, and his friend, Philip Foley, were by his side as groomsmen.

The newlyweds had booked a honeymoon in South Africa, Mauritius and Dubai but it was canceled due to Covid. “We did a road trip in Italy for two weeks. We then spent five days in Paris (our favorite place) including three days at Disneyland, because I’m a big Disney fan, ”said Stéphanie.

The bride is a dental nurse in the orthodontics department at Cork Dental Hospital and Dave is a senior executive at Accenture.
