PAF helicopters bring aid to typhoon-hit areas in Ilocos Norte, Cagayan

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Relief goods and other essential supplies were transported by Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopters to disaster areas in Ilocos Norte and Cagayan provinces.

In a statement released Monday, October 24, PAF spokesman Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said two PAF UH-1H helicopters delivered a total of 4,604 relief pounds on Sunday including food parcels, medicine and food. fuel to the Municipality of Adams in Ilocos Norte.

Adams, which was one of the hardest hit areas during the onslaught of Typhoon “Neneng” (international name: Nesat), was “isolated” from the rest of the province after road infrastructure was devastated by the typhoon, authorities said.

A W-3A “Sokol” combat utility helicopter was also deployed to Calayan Town, Cagayan City, to provide relief to residents who were still reeling from the weather disruptions, Castillo said. INQ
