ST. MARY, Mo. – The tornado that hit St. Mary, Missouri on Sunday. Red Cross volunteers returned to St. Louis on Wednesday evening after helping storm victims in St. Mary, Missouri.
The cleanup is not complete and Red Cross crews will be on site again on Thursday to help residents recover from the storm.
The American Red Cross said the teams are focusing on Fredericktown, St. Mary and Farmington in Missouri, as well as Randolph County in Illinois, among others. As they helped residents clean up, they distributed emergency supplies, including shovels, tarpaulins and gloves.
The tornado that hit St. Mary, Missouri, also affected Chester, Illinois. He ran an astounding 42 miles. The National Weather Service classified the tornado EF3 with winds ranging from 136 to 165 mph.
“Some of them will last longer than others depending on the extent of the damage, but they are resilient people out there. He is a neighbor who helps his neighbor, ”said Ken Peters, Red Cross volunteer.
Fortunately, no one was killed.
