Sherry blames Imran’s ‘mismanagement’ for ‘economic tsunami’

On Saturday, Climate Change Minister Senator Sherry Rehman slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Imran Khan, blaming his policies and “mismanagement” for the “economic tsunami” in Pakistan.

Earlier today, the ex-Prime Minister took to his official Twitter account to claim that the Zardari-Sharif ‘mafia’ had brought the country to its knees politically and economically ‘simply to salvage their illegally accumulated wealth for 30 years of pillage of Pakistan”.

The tweet came a day after the surprise defeat in the Punjab Assembly following the withdrawal of support from PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat in the election for Punjab’s chief minister.

Responding to the claims, Rehman said, “No, it is your endemic borrowing, your mismanagement and your neo-fascist agenda of violent divisions in society that has created this economic tsunami hitting Pakistan like a crest wave.”

She added: “Your only job has been to protect your own power, and in that service to unbridled narcissism you have sacrificed.”

The senator further pointed out that Imran had borrowed “50 trillion rupees in four years while performing a brazenly false narrative of breaking the begging bowl”.

In 70 years, she said no government had ever crossed such red lines, never borrowing more than 24,000 notes.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader further told the PTI leader that he was the one driving the country into bankruptcy, adding, “YOU ARE the plot against Pakistan.”

“So you have left Pakistan totally in debt with net debts now standing at over 50 trillion rupees. No government had ever done this,” she concluded.
