The Miami star punter will play for the Hurricanes again next season.
Redshirt junior Lou Hedley, 28, announced in an Instagram post on Sunday that he will return to the UM football schedule for his sixth season in 2022. The Mandurah, Australia native, 6 feet 4 inches tall, harvested in averaging over 44 ½ yards per punt. third season as a Hurricane to place second in the FBS in punting, winning semi-final honors for the 2021 Ray Guy Award.
Hedley’s ad featured video animation from the 2013 black comedy, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” while cameos from Hedley, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, athletic director Dan Radakovich, performers musical Rick Ross and Pitbull were all included in the scene of the film.
“Happy Holidays !! I’ll see you all next year,” Hedley wrote.
Hedley also said in a separate Instagram post eight days earlier that he would return to the team if the post, a photo of him punting at Hard Rock Stadium, received more than 10,000 likes. He won more than 13,000.
A former Ray Guy Award finalist in 2020, Hedley placed third at the Atlantic Coast Conference by rowboat this fall. He didn’t make UM’s final regular season game at Duke, a 47-10 win, nonetheless.
Hedley and the Hurricanes were scheduled to be in El Paso, TX for a Sun Bowl rematch against Washington State on Friday, but Miami pulled out of the game last night because the team has too many players in protocols. COVID-19 to play.
