Recall that the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) March Quarter Net Migration Overseas (NOM) data recorded the largest quarterly inflow on record, with 96,200 net migrants arriving:

The largest quarterly NOM ever recorded in the first quarter of 2022.

The uncapping of working hours for international students by the former Morrison government last year has already led to a surge in student visa applications from India and Nepal. Home Office data released in August revealed that a record 42,700 overseas international students applied for visas to study in Australia in June, with many more applying in July:
