According to The Weather Network, two “extraordinary Pacific storms” will impact the west coast of British Columbia starting Thursday, October 21, 2021.
British Columbians are advised to prepare for stormy weather in the coming days, according to a new report.
According to The Weather Network, two “extraordinary Pacific storms” will impact the west coast of British Columbia between Thursday (October 21) and Sunday.
The report’s authors note that the first storm is in the midst of an “explosive cyclogenesis, a pressure drop of at least 24 millibars in 24 hours – calling it in popular parlance a“ weather bomb. ”However, this system is expected to do “twice as much reinforcement” needed to meet this definition.
“While it is the rainy season for the west coast, and they are no stranger to severe lows this time of year, two power plant systems like these are definitely something to consider. “said Nadine Powell, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
The storm will also be reinforced by “remnants of a western Pacific typhoon,” the report’s authors say, which will increase the amount of precipitation.
Rain along the coast and the Lower Mainland is expected to increase through Thursday afternoon, remaining widespread and stable on Friday as well. The highest precipitation rates are expected Thursday night.
The storm is likely to weaken as it hits the interior, with Kelowna forecasting just 5-10mm of precipitation on Friday.
Vancouver Island is expected to experience the highest precipitation. In the Lower Mainland, the heaviest rainfall is expected Sunday evening, with rains continuing through Monday, followed by another front on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bottom # 2 will be stronger, belongs to the Bering Sea, but instead it will be southwest of Vancouver Island on Sunday afternoon. It’s unheard of in terms of pressure. Still, a lot of questions about the wind field, the strongest just south of the center, diminish as it approaches – it’s honestly weird. pic.twitter.com/ehSrNKx8r9
