Hanoi (VNA) – On behalf of the Prime Minister, Assistant Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang symbolically handed over 200 tons of rice worth nearly 100,000 USD on April 1 as a gift from the Vietnamese government and people to the Philippines to help address Typhoon Raiis next.

Hang expressed his sympathy to the Filipino people for the consequences caused by Typhoon Rai which hit the country last December.

She stressed that the Vietnamese government and people always stand with their Philippine counterparts in the spirit of cooperation, friendship and mutual support.

the help with rice demonstrates Vietnam’s attention to the victims of the storm as well as its desire to constantly consolidate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Philippines Meynardo Montealegre thanked the Vietnamese government and people for the invaluable support, describing it as practical help for his country in difficult times.

He affirmed that the Philippine side will work closely with Vietnam to carry out the necessary procedures to quickly distribute the rice to people in the typhoon-affected areas./.
